I ran a fbackup using cron last night and the log gave me this report.

fbackup(1004): session begins on Thu Feb 14 00:00:18 2002
fbackup(3203): volume 1 has been used 10 time(s)
fbackup(3024): writing volume 1 to the output file /dev/rmt/0m
fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /var/spool/sockets/pwgr/client22451
fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /var/spool/sockets/pwgr/client3123
fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /var/spool/sockets/pwgr/client3164
fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /var/spool/sockets/pwgr/client3204
fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /var/spool/sockets/pwgr/client3337
fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /var/spool/sockets/pwgr/client3370
fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 50469 was NOT backed up
fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 50484 was NOT backed up
fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 50485 was NOT backed up
fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 50486 was NOT backed up
fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 50488 was NOT backed up
fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 50489 was NOT backed up
fbackup(1030): warnings encountered during backup
fbackup(3055): total file blocks read for backup: 2819624
fbackup(3056): total blocks written to output file /dev/rmt/0m: 2881225

These client files don't exist on the system.
The script is executed by root.
Has anyone an idea why it is looking to stat a file that doesn't exist.
Oracle 8i is installed.

These are probably just temporary connect files which fbackup picks up, but which have disappeared by the time it comes to actually write them.

I should add that this is my theory based on what happens on a non-HP box I have, but perhaps someone with more HP knowledge can either confirm or refute this. HTH.

At start fbackup builds a list of files to be saved. Then it starts saving them. At this moment a file can be exclusiv in use, or even deleted. This gives this 2 kind of msg:
* fbackup(1102): WARNING: unable to stat file /var/spool/sockets/pwgr/client3370
* fbackup(3005): WARNING: file number 50469 was NOT backed up

Regards,
Jacques
