Faxing

Hi Everyone,
I have Optimumonline Voice/Modem(Motorola, SBV5120cable modem). I am trying to find a way to send/recieve faxes thru my PC but I have not been able to configure it. Opt.'s tech say I have to buy an External Fax Machine with and in/out phone connection. Does anyone have any ideas on "how to" make the fax work? If not, then I'll have to buy one more thing to clutter my desk.

You should check out a company called eFAX

With their software you can recieve FAX's in your e-Mail for free and to send FAX's from your e-Mail is only $12.95/mo. There are other services who do the same thing just start searching the internet.

Thank you for your reply. I also know of different places where you can get access to faxing for a fee. However, I would like to fax from my own PC if that is possible.

Do you have a Fax modem installed in your PC? If so, go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components and install fax services. Then go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Communications and you should be able to set it up.
