Using W2K, does anyone know how I can launch the fax service so that there is an icon sitting in the task bar from which I can switch receive on/off. I am looking for a quicker way of setting the fax to receive mode than going into the Control Panel, clicking on the Fax icon, going into Advanced Options, clicking on Fax Service Management Console, expanding Devices, right-clicking on Modem properties and clicking Receive.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can right click in control panel, select create shortcut, tell it to create it on your desktop, then drag it down to the taskbar and delete the one left on the desktop.
Hope that helps

mhughes, thanks for the reply.

I am doing this already. What I am really aiming for is being able to have the fax monitor icon permantly in the taskbear icon tray so that I can easly switch 'receive fax'
on/off. At present the icon only appears after sending or receiving a fax. Do you know of any way to launch this icon? I guess it's something to do with the fax service.

TIA

I don't think that the (Windows) Fax applet can reside in the system tray for "on/off" control.
You should grab a copy of WinFax 10. Works great in Windows 2000 and tucks neatly in to the system tray for full control.

Best regards,

I'll look into it. Thanks for the tip.

I dont bother with WinFAX.. I use eFax with great sucess for sending and receiving my faxs. The nice thing about it I dont have to be on my laptop or desktop to get them or to send them.
