Hi, am having a bit of an issue with faxing. Have two controllers connected via IP trunking. One controller 3300 MXe has the Telco equipment connected to it, the other 3300 LX has no ISDN service.

Incoming faxes via the MXe works fine. Outgoing though different story. Just can't send outgoing faxes via MXe. "Internal" fax from a fax machine on the LX controller to a fax machine on the MXe controller works. Only issue is when one "breaks out" to public network.
Any help is appreciated. I have turned off compression on the IP trunk as 'no-way' faxing worked. Once I turned off compression I got one way, incoming faxing to work.

release 7.1.3.4_2

never mind...found the issue...compression on a different route that the faxes were using was still on.

so in short you can't do faxing accross IP trunks with compression turned on...if you knew this, I didn't. worked that out the hardway ;-)

Thanks

What happens if you enable Camp-On Tone Security in COS? That's supposed to force the compression to G.711 instead of G.729. In fact, in 7.0, they changed the name of the COS feature to "Camp-on Tone Security/Fax Machine". Are you saying that even with that option enabled, the IP Trunks will still use compression?

Mitelpassion, were you getting "Poor line condition" error on your failed faxes. I have been having similar problems ever since upgrading to 7.1.3.4_2.
Where do you turn compression on and off?

Thanks

tried the COS option Lundah but no resolve, go figure as I also read the use of this in the help file...

not too sure of the error messages but I don't think poor line condition was the message. I stand corrected though.

compression on an ip trunk is turned on or off under you route assignment form. no on by default.

also compression will happen if you have your fax machines in different compression zone, provided you have license available and have a compression DSP installed.

Hope this helps,
Regards,
E
