Fax Server on ASM8

Hey guys,

Customer has a 2 port fax server that they use for only incoming faxes. I have programmed the target line with it's recieved digits and assigned the target line to both extensions(ports) I am useing on the ASM8. I have the target line to R&A on both ext 605 and 606 with 1 appearance.

in other words fax comes in goes to ex 605 if that port is busy it goes to port 606. if both ports are busy the third incoming fax recieves a busy signal.

Is this the best way to have this set up?

The problem they are having is the 2nd CO port on there fax server keeps hanging. The only way the can get this to stop is unplugging the line cord going to it. I had them switch the line cords from port 1 to 2 and 2 to 1. Port 1 will hang on secound incoming fax. I can not figure out why x606 is causing this to hang either on port 1 or 2 on their fax server.

I do know that the ASMs and ATAs do not provide disconnect supervision but they wouldn't explain why just one port is hanging. If anything both should be hanging.

I have had customers with fax servers off ASMs that have had that issue. I have recommended another product in that instance that does give disconnect supervision.

Assign the target line to a hunt group and assign both ASM extentions to the hunt group. Set mode to sequential so it only rings one port at a time.

Thanks Jeffkoeh, I never thought of hunt groups. No what about the diconnect issue, the lines hanging?

Line hanging possibly from both ports trying to answer the fax at the same time?

There is an ASM+ module that provides disconnect suprvision. Do you have the (+) on the module?
