Having trouble sending a FAX from a Message Manager on an Intuity MAP 5.
Can view faxes ok
Can send to a loacl network machine ok.
Can send to a remote machine on the network ok.
Trying to send to a external fax machine fails comes back on MM "Address XXXXXXXX@Fax is not valid

Any ideas???

Are you prefixing your call? You may have to add a 3 as a dial-prefix.

Thanks,

I can use it the exact same way on an Intuity LX and it works fine so a little stuck ..... not even sure if you can send fax from a Map 5

Do you have a remote amis machine called 'Fax'? You can use the list machines command or the display system-parameters fax-options command to find the fax server name.

Check out this link

Follow the Administration link, then the Fax Messaging link. Then follow the Fax Extended Dialing instructions.

Yes, you can send a fax from a MAP5 machine.

You don't use "@fax" on a MAP5. First, the MAP5 would have to be programmed to accept local, LD, and international dialstrings, and then you would have to have a prefix (such as 3) to preceed these numbers. It's much more complicated to set-up on a MAP5. The LX's are much easier.

I should mention that you need release 5.0 to use Fax Extended Dialing.

With Fax Extended Dialing you do not need to use prefix's and you do not have to set up different ones for local, LD and international. It is what LX uses...

Tried that and copied all the config from the notes still no joy.

There is one gotcha to look out for.

Under the command: change system-parameters fax-options where it says Allowed/Denied, if it is set to allowed, then back at the command line, type list fax-dial-strings this will show you what is ALLOWED. If there is nothing there, then change the setting back under ch sys fax to denied. That means it will deny nothing and allow everything.

Is that set properly?
