Dear All,

I have a problem with fax support between MultiVantage 1.2 and IPO (sw. 1.3 (37)).
On main site we have MV 1.2, and IPO on remote site... We tried fax over VoIP connection, between MV and IPO, but it doesn't work. Calls over VoIP are working fine.

We tested fax over VoIP between two IPOs and it works fine. I assume that there is a problem with MV (1.2).

Did anyone had a similar problem?

Regards,

I have faced the same problem.
FaxOverIP in IPO is an property protocol, It not support to connect with Definity/MV, It also not support ITU T.38 .
Wish in recent future,IPO will support it.
If you realy want to do so, a remedy solution is install another IPO in the center and connect it to Definity/MV by E1/T1.

Well, we used the solution you described below, but it's quite expensive solution ...
Do you know when IPO will support this feature (in SW 2.0 maybe or even 3.0???).
We also tried with MultiTech MVP210, but it simply didn't work ( problems with routing feature). Support from MultiTech said that they will not support faxing over IP trunking.

Is there any other solution?

As i know, 2.0 not support it. Fax over ip is an difficult issue for many vendors. But It is said Definity/MV support T.38. At all I think it is an proper solution, if you chose G700, It maybe more expensive.
In my solution, the IPO in the center is also used as an Conference Bridge, It let customer feel not so bad. :)

I have also had the same problem. If you have bandwidth to burn and the fax traffic is not high try building a second IP line using G711 codec. Every time the fax makes a call it uses the G711 codec. I may work

Do you mean if set G711 codec, then FaxOverIP work well while connect to Definity/MV? if any other gateway??

Now that SW 2.0 is out, I have finally tested fax over IP - it works, but ...

When I send fax from IPO to MV its ok , but when I send fax from MV to IPO it takes 2:30 min to complete transfer for 1 page ! Any ideas?

Thanks in advance..

Hi all,

I have disabled ECM on a fax machine and it works now.

Regards

Looks like I facing same problem as you. I put it on tek-tips, but I did not get any helpful replay. Let mi repeat myself:

«We have following environment. Avaya Media Server S8300 with Media Gateway G700 (Call manager SW 1.3)at one side, and on other side IP Office 403 (SW 2.0.16). Between S&G and IPO we have IP trunk (linked by routers). We have next problems…
- We try to send fax between those two sites (using IP trunk, which is working for all other communications good; e.g. analog phone to analog phone from one site to another), but when one fax called another, another replay, but first does not realize that second answered, so connection failed). Sending fax between faxes on same site off course works.
- Another problem is establishing modem connection between mentioned two sites using IP trunk.
Which setting should be applied for setting IP trunk (on Communication Manager and IP Office) which will support fax and modem connection, and settings of stations/extensions used for attaching fax and modem. Is there some requirement for involved routers, faxes and modem settings?»

After some researching, I come to this that, fax support between C.M. 1.3 an IPO 2.0 works (but not to me) and modem transport is not jet supported over IP trunk, but it should be till June. As you said (VanZenden) that fax works, could you send me setting for C.M. and IPO. I will appreciate it! I have to mention once again, voice though IP trunk works perfect, but fax does not work at all. I try change setting for IP-network region, IP-codec-set, signaling group for IP trunk and IP trunk settings on C.M. and VoIP settings of VPN line on IPO, but neither combination is working.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Modems are not support over AVAYA's IP implementation yet.
