Hi, Based in the UK and have an IPO (4.2x) using SIP only. They are having issues sending faxes. I know the codec needs to be G711 and I believe the fax limited to 14,400 max baud rate. Has anyone else had any issues or is there anything else I need to do?

SIP expects the T.38 protocol, the IP Office use a different protocol which is not compliant with SIP.

Ergo : you cannot use FoIP yet with IPOffice over SIP
This will be supported in release 5.0 next year

Just a suggestion could you install a fax machine on the broadband line?

Marshall

We have several customers and ourselves faxing out on SIP using G.711. Me also have customers who can't. It depends on the provider.

Thanks. No broadband line. SIP is over a private wire link from the head office. Can fax out now and most of the time can fax in. Sip provider say's should be ok if using G711.

We also have SIP on our IPO and want to integrate fax. To the ones that have this solution working, are you using a fax server? What is your setup like?

Thanks.

Force the fax machine to 9600. Should get about 80 percent success rate.

Thanks. Will set it to 9600. Not using a fax server. Just 2 fax machines on analogue ports

You could also try a AudioCodes MP112 connect that to you SIP provider and the other end to an analog trunk port on the IPO. This because the MP112 supports T.38 for faxing.
Make sure your Sip provider supports T.38 and that there is enough bandwith.

Good luck with the AudioCodes. Spent 2 days trying to get one to work. No luck. Tech support less than desirable.

Got the MP112/MP114 working overhere both with a fax on it, with and without a license key.

1. on a Voip extension based with a IP End-points license.

2. on a IP trunk based connection i didn't see it working but it should work as our DB told me, he said he will sent me the configs.
