I have an HP3200 multi-function printer in the office. I have a fax line coming in as CO5. The extension 27 is set up as the fax extension. The fax machine does not answer any calls on the extension, however it has no problem dialing out to send a fax. I have played with number of rngs, special rings etc. all to no avail. The extension works normally with a system phone connected. This is a Partner II Rel 3.1 system. I want the fax to go through the system so that we have the Fax trunk as an extra outbound line. ANy suggestons?

Try plugging in a regular telephone instead of the fax machine, and confirm that the regular phone rings.
From the operator console (Ext 10), confirm that the extension (27) is configured for the fax line (and perhaps no other lines assigned.) Make sure that ext 27 is set to ring, though it sounds like it is.

Hi grigby,
Have you turned distinctive rings off? Also make sure your fax is set to autoanswer. Sorry if that sounds silly, but people pay us to come out for that exact fault. Fax vendors may miss this.
