Has anyone have success using a "FAX" machine via VOIP? I have a client(s) you prefer to use ole school fax machines versus e-fax.

Any information will be appreciated.

This has been a constant battle for us in our service area with VoIP transport and fiber to the home installations. In general, we can get faxs working tweaking the line configuration on our ONT at the customer site, and sometimes in our voice gateway. Modem dialup calls are the worst though as they are far more picky than just fax. In some cases the configuration results in a line that is not suitable for voice (after echo cancellation is disabled for example).

We use them a fair bit, 95% succesful.

You MUST use G711a/u or T38 (better), any thing else and you are really taking a risk. Oh and good QoS

You'll need a decent ATA, avoid the cheaper ones, we find they fall over to often.
Then it's case tweaking the settings until it works.

Personally I hate the ******** things. As stated above modems are even worse, we get about a 20% success rate.

Most people spend their time on the "urgent" rather than on the "important."
