We just cut over from a Fujitsu system to a Definity G3si. We cut over a fax machine today. We can dial out with a butset, but when using the fax machine to place calls you can hear it dialing out, but it will not break the dial tone. The COR is set up correctly and the machine was working on the Fujisu PBX.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you check your tip and ring ? Cable from jack to fax machine ( ensure not a crossed cable )

Is the fax machine tone dialing or pulse dialing? If pulse dialing you have to set the station type to 500 on the Definity station form for that station.

The fax machine is set up for DTMF. I can try it just to see, though.

I agree with bobaz, sounds like the pair is reversed.
Which means either you have a crossed cable or the jack is incorrrectly wired.
It used to be that the polarity had to be correct for touch tone phones to work. With modern day electronics, most sets don't care.
