Fax Machine Must Be Drunk!

External modem turns off when receiving or sending faxes, but not all the time, also makes noises. Can't send faxes to a particular number on campus but can send to other numbers on campus.

Have you tried to isolate the problem at all? Changed to another line, swapped the modem or moved the modem to another PC? This would be a good place to start. I would start with the modem since it works to some but not to other numbers on campus. Give that a try and let me know the outcome.

Also check if this line is a stand alone pots line or going though a PBX of some kind, if so there may be some kind of routing rules/restriction in place on that line
