I recently started with a company that has not information on the phone system. It's a Partner Mail VS using Avaya and Lucent telephones.

While trying to remedy a voicemail issue we were having, I some how assigned our fax line to the second intercom button. Now when a fax comes in, the intercom button rings and the fax does not connect. I have not idea what I did.

Can someone help?

Thank You!

Start with telling us which Partner system you have - press Feature 59 and the display will give you the release. List the cards in your system from left to right

Is your Fax line connected as one of the outside lines? Which one? Is your Fax machine connected as one of the extensions? Which one?

And start by getting some phone training on your system

I will get as much info as I can and post it. I thank you for your help.

joe2938... If I was able to get phone training I would. Unfortunately that's not an option right now. But thank you for the advise.

sorry was having a bad day, 1st tell us how this is all set up so we can assist you, is your fax an extension on your phone system?

Ok guys.... this is all I can tell you. P ACS R6.0 C01 is the partner system.

As far as I can tell, the fax line is connected as one of the outside lines. Line 3.

As for the other stuff you're asking.... I haven't the foggiest. I did take these pictures to see if that helps answer any of your questions.

And we're still getting faxes, so I'm not sure that's the reason the intercom button is ringing (3 rings by the way at random times during the day).

This all started when it was decided to disable the automated attendant, as we don't need it, and have the voicemail for ext #10 answer at night.

I'm sorry I can't be of any other help, but if you give me a direction to go to answer your questions I will do my best to find out.

Thank You!

I just found the following on a different forum. Sounds like the same issue I'm having so I thought it might help you. The only thing I've done is with the phone at extension #10. I haven't touched any of the actual wiring or cards for the phone system. I may have done something with the hunt group, but I'm not sure. I know this is awful but I really need help!

Installed- 5 slot carrier, Partner ACS R1.1 installed in middle slot, Partner VMS r4.1 installed in 5th slot, extensions 40, 41 assigned to hunt group 7. Ext 10 is a Partner 18D phone set.

VMS is programmed for central answer and transfer to extension, each with recording.

Issues:
1) 2nd intercom rings every 90 minutes. If picked up, it sounds as though it's dialing a partial number. If not picked up, it rings 3 times and stops.
2) on incoming calls, appears to do one or the other in random:
a) central answers on 1st ring and caller presses selector key for transfer (as programmed) and on pick-up/answer at extension 10, it sounds as though it's dialing a partial number (also heard by caller) and then call proceeds.
b)call rings many times before picked up by central answer, and on pick-up/answer at extension 10, it sounds as though it's dialing a partial number (also heard by caller) and then call proceeds.

If you're having the intermittent call ring on Intercom, and hearing incoming Touch Tones (NOT FAX TONE), you have programmed one or more incorrect extensions into the voicemail hunt group. From your picture, your voicemail ports are 30 and 31.

At Ext. 10, press Feature and dial 00.
Press the left hand Intercom button twice
Dial #505-7-10

The top line will say Hunt Group 7 10
Ensure that the 2nd line of the screen says 2-Not Assigned. If it says 1-Assigned, press 2 on the key pad to change it.

If you have an 18-button display phone, press the button that is the 2nd from the top in the 2nd column. This will change the top line to Hunt Group 7 11

Again confirm the 2nd line is 2-Not Assigned. Keep cycling through until you get back to 10, setting everything to 2-Not Assigned EXCEPT FOR 30 and 31, leave as 1-Assigned.

In order to disable the automated attendant and have Mailbox 10 answer lines 1 and 2 (but not 2 if that is indeed the fax line), you would dial #206-7-01-2, #206-7-02-2, #206-7-03-2 and #208-01-10, #208-02-10

TouchToneTommy.... you're a lifesaver. Everything is working great. Thank you so much for your help!!!
