Fax drop out

Has any one heard of a problem with FAXes cutting off half way through receiving a FAX, it doesn't happen to out going faxes. this is running off a Tn of the PABX, it is running 4.5 and is an 81C.
 
Did you ever resolve this? I am having the same problem right now. 61C Knowing that we recently had a ton of frame slipping errors and we swapped out a lot of cards and parts and outted and rebuilt routes before finally determining it was Bell's equipment outside and got that fixed this morning - what did we forget to put back?

Here is a call trace on an incoming fax from one of my south branches - but all the fax machines here are having the problem now...some are even ringing on the sender end but I never hear it on this end. The senders are saying the call just staps after hearing the handshake (but I question whether they really did hear handshake. If I dial an internal fax number from my desk phone I do eventually hear it but there is a funny clicking, pulse tone sound and then hang up) Last week I had the half a page coming through and then stopping problem - we chalked that up to the slipping errors taking the incoming T down (It was happening every 4 or 5 minutes). Is it possible in all our swapping we took the TDM card out of the right route?

frame slips can cause a call to drop, faxes may drop quicker then voice... usually any calls dropping can be traced to trunks... check the lcnt tables, those hits usually result in a dropped call..

That's the weird part - ever since we fixed the slipping, we can't receive fax. I think the vendor forgot to put something back - the loops aren't the same as they were before but we can make and receive voice calls fine and we can fax out just fine - just can't receive.

Before the fix those slip counts were sky high...haven't had one since this morning on the final fix.
 
so the t's are working and you can't rec any faxes? does the fax just not answer or answer and not connect or answer and not complete... guessing what your vendor changed might take a while... vod to vce? spv to no? drng?.. any of those can cause your problem along with a dozen others... i would get that vendor back on site..

Yes - my switch Vendor and TWC (the T provider) will be back out today. I can see the call hit my switch, the sender hears ring and connect, there is a very brief squeal like it's going to handshake and then it just drops. We were here with TWC last night and they hooked a Sage up to a few of the fax lines and said they "bumped the levels" but that didn't seem to work. Well, TWC did get test faxes sent through to a couple numbers last night but today, my south florida branches still cannot fax to us (I'm in central fl). One is left coast, one is right. One is on a CS1000M system and one is a small key system with analog fax lines that don't even go through the key system.

During the slipping error fixing we started out with 2 PRIs loop 18 and loop 19. One was incoming DID the other was an outgoing COT. We rebuilt new loops on 28 and 29 and tried every combination until we finished with one on 19 and one on 29 (started with one 2-Line PRI card and now we have 2 of them, each using only half - will probably consolidate that back in the near future). That's when TWC found a bad card outside my physical plant on the circuit into us (Bell equipment? maybe?). Replaced that and slipping is gone.

If I call a fax line with my regular pohone I hear wqeird tones - a quick double ring, some pulse clicking, the brief squeal and then nothing. IT seems like when I call with a fax line they never negotiate.

Next week's vacation is looking better and better all the time. IF I get to go...
 
Well, as seems to be the case with the majority of these problems - it's not me it's them. My carrier in south FL located a problem between here and my south FL branch - somewhere around the point where they hand off to my inbound carrier here I suspect. They told me they re-routed my traffic while they fixed the problem and my faxes have been coming through. It wasn't a problem with ALL my incoming - just incoming from one Southern location.

I'm tired of fax technology. I wanna go back to smoke signals. Or email.
