Fax calls transferring to wrong extension ... 1

I've almost got this entire system up and running perfectly now, and this is the last snag. The fax machine is set up on an 012E and is ext. 26. I programmed the extension into Hunt Group #8 (505) and assigned ext. 26 as a fax extension (601). When I try to send a test fax, the automated attendant answers the call, and then transfers the call to the call service operator, which is ext. 11. If I try to dial the fax machine directly, it will answer.

I didn't try to disable the programming and try to set up the fax machine through Partner Messaging yet.

I've set this up several times before, and the only thing I can think of that's different with this setup is that the fax machine is on the 012E. We had to put it there because the ring generator on the ACS is faulty, and analog devices would not ring when called. That shouldn't make a difference though, should it?

Thanks for the help.

In the partner messaging you have to assign that ext as a fax ext
choose 4 under ext programming

Hi Allisland - thanks for your post. In my reading of the partner and messaging manuals, it seems to be saying that I can assign a fax extension either through the ACS OR through Partner Messaging as they both have recognition capabilities to route faxes to the hunt group. But, I shouldn't have it set in both the ACS and in Partner Messaging - it's an either/or thing it seems. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Many thanks.

Fax recognition ONLY works in conjunction with Partner Messaging or Partner Voice Messaging - you must have one of these to answer the initial phone call. It must be set in both.

It IS an either/or not-both thing. The call does need to be answered by Voice Mail or DXD. The ACS can do the CNG tone detection and send the call to hunt group 8, or the Partner Messaging can, on a per Auto Attendant basis, detect the CNG and transfer to a specific extension.

If you set both ways, I have found it unreliable. I prefer to let the ACS do the detection.

Put the Fax extension in Hunt Group 8, in #505-8-XX-1, the line to the AA in #206-7-NN-1 and see what happens.

Hi Tommy - Thanks, as always, for the post. FYI - When I had it set in both the ACS and the Messaging, it did not work, as you had said. I tried sending it through the ACS, but it was still not reliably transferring the calls to the fax ext. I de-programmed the options in the ACS and set it up in Messaging, and it has worked beautifully ever since. I think we're good! Many thanks again.
