I have an analog fax machine on an extension. I was wondering if I could setup when the fax is busy (either sending or recieving) could CallPilot pickup the incoming fax and store it in a group mailbox?

If yes, how can I make that message waiting indicator appear on all phones?

Is the fax number a DID? If so, you'd have to set that target line to prime to another extension when busy, and have that extension directed to a mailbox. You'll need the fax messaging keycode to make that work.

You can't have a MWI on all phones - a phone can only display a MWI for a single mailbox.

From a cost effectiveness and ease of use standpoint, I'd be tempted to hook another fax to another analog port, and have your DID prime to that analog port when busy.

I have unified messaging -- and all the keycodes needed.

So I can't just set a button, on the phone, as a message waiting indicater (like a line button?) I seem to think this was possible with our MICS.

Not that I'm aware of - you've got one MWI per set in the Norstar/BCM world as far as I know. You can do that on a Meridian PBX.

Actually the CICS/CP100 (v6.0) in our other office does it -- no clue how they have it setup, but she can see when her boss has a voicemail -- the line button just has the black dash next to it.

If you find out how they did it, please, by all means share....

the button in programming comes up (...) -- how can I see what the actual defination is? was it done through nortel utilties maybe?

The phone through **config -- i don't have remote utilities ....

Why wouldn't you just get the fax overflow keycode and set it up? Then it would download the faxes to the machine when it became available.

There is a keycode for that? Our vender has NOT been the most helpful --

i haven't been back to that office; im at home today -- monday ;-)

If you purchase a fax overflow keycode, which I believe is included with faxsuite or even the silver bundle, this will allow the BCM to store those faxes while the machine is busy and then spit them back out to the fax machine when it becomes available. I have two faxes working on one bcm with cfwd busy and it works fine.
