Favorites display very slowly in Internet Explorer

Recently my drop down favorites menu displays very slow. I have many subfolders and entries, but it has always been quick in the past. I use XP Pro, and the IE is V6.0.29 I have all recent updates installed. Anyone have an idea why it displays slowly?

Context menu display slowness can be a little tough to track down.

. defrag the disk
. Webroot SpySweeper is a known issue
