I just saw something which brings these questions to mind. I notice AVG has a Anti-Rootkit tool posted now, which probably makes a good number of companies (Sysinternals, Sophos) involved with it specifically, or integrated into virus/spyware software now.

Is there a good review posted somewhere on which of these tools (specific anti-rootkit, or virus/spyware scanners), works best with finding rootkits?

As a matter of fact, I did read a review of Rootkits awhile back.
I've downloaded Sophos, Systernals, IceSword (from MajorGeeks), RootkitBuster (TrendMicro), RootKitUnhooker, and Grisoft. I use them all. If something slips past one, hopefully the others will pick it up. ;-)

2ffat,

Thanks for that list. I think that may well be worth looking into. So long as they all get along, and they don't all hog a bunch of resources, then it can't hurt to try them all out.

Most of these are stand alone products that don't need to be installed thus they don't generally "step on each other." I only run one at a time anyway since most seem to be CPU intensive.
