Hi,

I just put a .ico file in my root directory, so that the company logo will display in the "Favorites" menu instead of the default IE icon. From my understanding, when a user visits the website, the browser (if IE 5 or above) copies the .ico file over. If this is the case, why can't I view it on my co-worker's computer? It shows up perfectly on mine. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

One more thing, I just checked it out again on my co-worker's system and if I drag the default IE icon from the URL bar in the "favorites" window (Ctl I), it suddenly changes to the icon. So, the problem really is why it doesn't display in the URL address bar.

Thanks,
Dan

In the Address bar - try draging the icon to the right a little. You may have to do this 2 or 3 times. But it works for me.

I don't know, but you may need to have the URL saved as a favorite first. Or you could delete the existing favorite and rebookmark the URL.

Or you could get a little app called FavOrg from PC Magazine. Sorry I don't have the link, but it goes out to all your favorites and copies their favicons to your hard-drive. IE only keeps the favicons in the temporary internet folder. If you clean up your temp folder, the favicons go away. Just thought I'd warn you. Einstein47

Einstein47,

You're right on the money. It works. Thanks.
