We have a new Cat5e cable UTP that we ran through the ceiling. Our Network connection is now intermitent, we have tried numerous cards, and even different machines all together. Is it possible the mobo or machine is frying the card, the first one to go was the onboard NIC. We may have the UTP running along side power lines in the ceiling, could this be an issue with intermitent connections? We have had difficulty with this machine in the past, but have just found that the power cable was shorting out, so that is no longer an issue.

try a cable tester first to check the cable integrity?
