Hello

I have a couple of SUN Fire 280R's both of which produce the same error message when initiating a probe-scsi-all command.

The error message is:

Fatal SCSI error at script address 8 Illegal Instruction.

Does anyone know what this means and more importantly what can be done to cure it. I am trying to attach an external DLT and can't because of the error.

Thanks

Alan

How are you connecting the DLT drive? Internal SCSI or PCI card?

Some types of SCSI are incompatible.

I am connecting to the internal SCSCI, the probe-scsi-all error occurs even with the drive disconnected.

If all your disks are pushed in fully and no other device is on that scsi path, i suggest you log a call with Sun (if you have a contract). Sounds like you may have a motherboard or disk problem.
