Fastload EBCDIC from a network attached client?

I am trying to Fastload some flat files from my PC that were FTP'd from our IBM mainframe and are in EBCDIC rather than ASCII. From what I can see in the Fastload doc and with some testing I have done, it looks like only Fastload running on a mainframe (channel attached Teradata server) will handle an EBCDIC source file, and that network attached clients can only handle ASCII.

Anyone know a way to do this? The file contains some Comp and Packed Decimal files so I can not simply convert it from EBCDIC to ASCII when I FTP to my PC.

I don't think you can do it without converting the file to ASCII first. I may be wrong, and I'm sure someone will correct me, if I am.

There are several software packages out their that will do the conversion (EBCDIC <=> ASCII). Some are free, some are not. I can't recommend one, as I have never had to use one.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, hopefully someone has a more definitive answer.
