How could someone compute the amount of time it would take to serialize a single 1518 byte packet over a Fast Ethernet connection? I know it will but miliseconds.
Thanks!
Rick

vague question - but a fast ethernet card can drop a packet
on to the cable in well under a millisecond - say about 100 microseconds or so.

Thanks for your help. SO it would be 1518 /100,000,000
or 1518 / 800,000,000 (for bits vs Bytes)

it will be 1518/1250000 bytes but you still have to think about overhead of the ip and udp etc
