ok...so, I upgraded from a pentium 3 866 mhz/384 mbs ram to pentium for 2.8ghz/800mhz fsb/hyper-threading with 2 256mb 400 mhz ram running at dual channel....and windows xp is running slower than it was before I upgraded????? What should i do?
yes, the motherboard came with a system monitor program and it shows the exact mhz of the processor, bus, ram etc..everything is right...but i've figured out that stuff on my other hd runs fine so i think my main hd is just shot...its pretty old.
I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROB GOING FROM AN 1800+ TO A 2400+, AND BELIVE ME I WAS PISSED. BUT, I SOLVED THE PROB BY BACKING UP AND REINSTALLING WINDOWS. THIS MAY BE DRASTIC, BUT FROM THE SOUNDS OF THINGS YOU HAVE 2 HD'S SO THE TRANSFER SHOULD NOT BE SO BAD. AS WELL, YOU MAY HAVE ALOT MORE STUFF RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND DUE TO THE NEW MOBO AND THE SOFTWARE THAT YOU PROBABLY INSTALLED WHEN MAKING THE CHANGE.... the only right answer to "why?" is: "why not?"
