Well, I've got FASTLOAD and BTEQ to work via Windows XP.

Pretty easy really, but I just can't get FAST EXPORT to work... any ideas?

Let me give you some more info...

I want to extract about 5 GB of data and zip it up to send it to an external company as a one-off process.

Normally, I would do this via the mainframe and there is a process set up to do this each week. But the company who wants to weekly data also wants historic data. Hence the 5 GB, which is about two years worth of data.

I've managed to run a FAST EXPORT on a small table - a couple of hundred rows. So I've used a similar process to tackle a bigger piece of data, but it seems to hang.

Can anybody suggest a possible reason for this ?

Can you use fastload using a dial up connection with XP?

Riray,

I guess you could, I've connected by home PC to my Data Warehouse to do thing via ODBC and I'm connected over a LAN to do things ODBC and using the CLI (Teradata's own thing).

But why would you want to run FASTLOAD over a dial up connection ?

The performance of FASTLOAD would by compromised by the slow connection.

For example, I loaded one gigabyte of data in about 15 minutes via the LAN. If I tried the same thing over a dial up I would have to wait forever!!
