Hi,

I would like to know how can I configure Fast Ether Channel (FEC) on my Cisco 2924 switch. I want to take advantage of the dual NIC on my Compaq DL580.

Thanks!

You cannot configure a FEC or GEC between a switch and a PC. Only between two switches. You cannot increase the bandwidth to a PC by joinning more than one connection.

Sorry

Zen37,

Thanks for getting back to me. Why does the server come with a dual NIC (2 ports on one card)?

Thanks!

Certain nics do support FEC , I question whether the 2924 supports it or not . IT might if its a newer 8 meg box but I don't think an older 4meg box supports that. Try on the 2924 interfaces input "channel-group 1 mode on " . Don't know about the server end I'm a network guy .

vipergg,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have a Cisco 2924-XL-EN switch. I could post a show version later, for full details of the switch.

A lot of the latest Intel nics support Etherchannel. Some NIC vendors refer to LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protoco) which is essentially the same thing.

Here is the show version of the switch:
