Why are they called Fast Dials when you have to take a million steps to acces them? Anyone have best practices out there on how these should be set up?

I have:

Press DIRECTORIES then (4) PERSONAL DIRECTORY then Enter Your Login info (This can take a user time...LDAP intergration) then press (2) PERSONAL FAST DIALS. It will display a list of Fast Dials you created and you can scroll to the entry you want and press DIAL to make the call. I can dial a number faster then that!!

I would think you can set up to 9 fast dials so if you press and HOLD the # 3 key for like 3 seconds it will dial that entry....much like a cell phone.

I have folks complaining about the use of all these and how could they be simple (Corp Directory, Personal Directory, Fast Dials and Speed Dials). Seems Speed Dials is the only option we should have given the users rather then confuse them.

Thanks

That's the correct procedure and it is long I agree. Speed dials will do what you mentioned, press the 3 key while on hook then the abbr dial softkey and it will dial speed dial #3. Up to 99 speed dials per user.

Yes - Agreed, I have been telling everyone to disregard the Fast Dials and use Speed Dial. Much faster. I believe I can program up to 199 for each user on 8.x. Thanks for the reply!!
