Yet another faq question:
Please define the Partner Endeavor. Is this the system that was a self contained (1 slot) all in one system?
No, you are thinking of the old 206 standalone.
The Endeavor was not one of Lucent's best moves. I always describe it as a stripped down lower cost ACS. While it had most of the same features as the ACS it had its own notable differences.
- Uses only 362EC expansion modules. None of the regular Partner modules will work with the exception of the Partner Mail VS (not the new Partner Messaging R1.0 or R6.0).
- Had its own selection of phones, which would work only with the Endeavor processor and the 362EC’s. The regular Partner phones will work however and I don’t know anybody who actually used the cheap Endeavor phones.
- Only the last two ports on each module will support standard T/R devices that require ringing like an answering machine or single line phone so you had to be careful how you set the system up if you had any of these.
- The Endeavor “out of the box” will support one additional module with a 2-slot carrier. To expand beyond that and use a 5 slot carrier you have to buy a 5 slot upgrade card. (Now you are almost at the cost of an ACS).
- There is only one PC card slot. Use either a backup/restore card, ASA/DXD card, Partner VM card or the upgrade card.
The Partner ACS R5.0 and later will support the 362EC modules since at that time the Endeavor was (thankfully) discontinued.
If I’m forgetting anything add it to the list.
