I seem to get mixed signals on the maximum configuration of the BCM 50, its Nortel Brochure tells me 3 to 20 user expandable to 40 but can go beyond. I can't seem to find the beyond.

How may analog trunk line and digital set can I max out the system. I did see a combo digital/IP set, but no number.

Hope you can help.

4 Analog sets on Main unit
4 Analog Trunks on Main unit
16 Digital set on Main unit
They mean using IP sets.

How many phones do you need to have.

you can add 2 expansion units and each can hold an
8 analog trunkd Mod which would give you 16 trunks
or
you could have 1 8 Trunk Mod and 1 32+ Digital statinn Mod

or

you could use 2 32+ Digital Mod

Or

you could use 2 DTM Digital Trunk Mod's

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

The book also says BCM 50 delivers an upgrade to SRG50 for
32 to 80 IP Phones.

First of all the main unit max is 12 and the SRG is extentions off of a PBX.

srg50 is not the same as bcm50 though they use the same hardware and software.

In theory you can max out a BCM50 with
4 co lines
4 analog stations
12 digital stations
32 IP sets

24 channels (with DTM) on expansion 1

32 digital stations (with DSM 32) on expansion 2

I have my reservation on this configuration and would rather go with a BCM400 - just to be on the safe side for system resources.

Just wanted to bring up this older thread ...

I read in the handbook that 76 is max digital stations- (possible by using dsm32+, dsm32+, 12 station keycode)
the website says 44 is max station capacity

has anyone used more than 44 digital stations?

You probably could do the stations theoretically, but would likely run out of signalling resources and you would also have no trunks....well 4 analog trunks.

thanks magnargp ...
actually i might be reading the bcm handbook wrongly as well - it could be meaning 44 digital stations and 32 IP phones for 76 sets (i've stupidly assumed 76 digital sets)

I have a system with 32 Digital Station Module, PRI, 9 IP Phones, 2 Analog devices, and 8 Digital stations licensed on the main unit. It works just fine. I also have one with the main system full, and over 20 additional IP phones and all 4 analog stations used and a PRI.

both in service over a year.

I still get mixed signals but am working with the assumption 44 digital set, 1 32 digital station module and 12 Digital set via Key code?

Thanks

Stay with the 44 (12 main chassis via keycode) and 1 DSM32+ in expansion module (via expansion keycode) and you are safe.
