Does anyone have problem with false 911 calls on the Cisco CallManager?

We switched from Nortel to CallManager for about a year and we got alot of false 911 calls. We didn't have a single false 911 calls on the Nortel systems for over 10 years.

We use 9 to dial outside line. All the false calls were made when user dials a different area code like 9-1-800-555-1212. But they accidently tapped the 1 twice and the calls goes out to 911 before they can hang up.

Does anybody know the difference between Nortel and Cisco ? The dialing plan is the same for both system to dial 911.

If anybody have suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you,
Charles

Probably has to do with the dialing plan..

Soon as CCM sees 911 it nails that call out.. Whereas on the nortel box, the dial plan was probably setup so that it would wait a few seconds before it dialed..

Is there a way to pause 911 calls for a second or two before it calls out?

You could put in an overlap RP Like 9115 then adjust your Interdigit timer (T302) from 15 seconds down to like 10 seconds. When someone dials 911 CCM will wait 10 seconds to dial waiting for the next digit. But this will delay your legitimate 911 calls by 10 seconds. Not sure you really want to do this. If you cut the timer down to a shorter period, it will afffect a lot of other dialing functions also and cause more problems. If you teach users to dial 911# the call should go immediately but people won't remember to do it in an emergency.

i created a translation pattern labeled 9XXXXXXXXX and 1911XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX so that if someone dial 911 or 91911 "which was the real cause of the problem", this forces the callmanager to wait for additional digits for sending the digits. this seems to be the best way without affecting dialing globally
