PARTNER v7 Customer "tricks the system" so that callers can dial first 2 letters of person's last name and they'll be transferred to the correct extension. I haven't verified that they aren't using real dial by name directory (available with PARTNER mail VS) but need to map a new name.

As I see it, I need to:

Assuming last name JONES, forward calls from ext 56 (J-O) to ext 17 (the actual extension the person is sitting at.)

I know how to administer mailboxes, but not sure of the right process here.

Thanks!

Your customer is a nut, or it's not VS mail, 'cause there's no dial by name directory in VS mail.

If it's Messaging, however, it will eventually timeout after 2 letters of the name and transfer to the extension.

If I wanted to do the above (transfer ext. 56 to 17) what would be the correct process?

Have confirmed customer is using PARTNER Mail VS R5.0.

Feature 11 (forward) - 56 (Extension to transfer FROM) - 17 (Extension to transfer TO)

It's going to need to be a Partner II or ACS R3 or higher for 56 to be a valid extension number in the dial plan.
