Hi All,

We have this backup class which has the File List configured as ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES. Backups are successful with this configuration.

However, when we attempt to backup specific directories we always end up with status 71. We confirmed that these directories exists by listing the directories through the Restore process.

We have tried using the various style of directory naming convention such as

1) S:\Restore2) /S/Restore/

but to no avail.

All other configuration of the backup class is the same other than the file listing.

Any suggestion to this will be most welcomed.

Regards,

S??

Double check the status of the "Backup Network Drives" box.

Hi All,

Thanks for the prompt response ...

The S drive is a SAN ...

But a SAN drive is a local drive!!

A NAS drive is a Network based drive.

The account that you are using to perform the backups - Is it the local system account or an administrator account - The latter is preferrable an in many cases - Required. What O/S are you running?

We are using the administrator account. The master server is a Sun Solaris 8 while the client is a Win2K.

We are still stumped as to why backup is okay when using ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES but yet fail with Status 71 when we try to break up the backup into manageable chunks.

If you enable multistream
and if tou set the filelist to ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES
Then look at the file
...\netbackup\db\images\$SERVERNAME\STREAMS
This ascii text file shows the filelist that
will be used for the backup.

Try using the syntax for the directory as used
by the ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES in the specific directory
listed backup policy.

Hi Stumpr,

This is what I got for the S:/Restore/ directory ... what does those digits mean?

8 0 NT_SYS_APPS_fullerton81 NT_SYS_APPS_Daily_Incr 1 0 0 S:\Restore

I'm not sure about the purpose of all the fields.
I was interested in the directory name. It shows it as
S:\Restore\ This you tried without success.

Please also run from your master
.../bin/goodies/check_coverage -coverage -client CLIENTNAME

This will create a file that will list the drives that should be backed up.

Also have you tried just S:
