I am being asked to solve an issue that I have no idea about and wondered if anyone here would know. A friend is trying to update a MAMBO site but when they load the page editor in IE7 none of the editing toolbars appear and only the code is visible. An error is reported and the html code cannot be altered in any way.

If we load it into Firefox then we do get the editing tools do appear but if we try to switch to HTML mode or add a hyperlink the javascript window opens as a blank page.

Any ideas welcomed!)

What is the error? It probably has a lot to do with why it is not working.

Also make sure you're using the latest version of Mambo (isn't it now called Joomla?) as it may well have fixes for IE 7.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Sorry, didn't post error because I was being lazy and simply transferring the error info without going back in to find the actual message.

Anyhow, solved it so far but it raises another issue. I had set the live_site details in my configuration.php to an old location and so have changed this. It now works easily within FireFox. However, IE7 insists on removing the of the address whenever I type it in and this does not match the live_site addy and so the fault re-appears in IE7. If I add the back in and do a refresh then everything is fine for that one page instance. How do you stop IE from removing the one of those 'clever' things MS do that proves to be anything but).

Mambo and Joomla are two instances of the same thing. They have had a personality clash it would seem and so both run. I am at present replacing the whole thing with my own construct but for now we are using the latest Mambo version.

Thanks for answering though.)
