Failed to Send Email 8004010F

I am getting the above error messages when trying to send alert messages using microsoft exchange. I have checked the service account and the system account and these are both the same. I have tried to restart the services but this has not helped either.

I have also looked at the CA web site and have seen the documents which after reading and checking through i still haven't been able to solve the issue.

Any ideas would be greatly appreicated.
