Friends,

We have one instance of Arcserve;IT 6.6 for NT and in another server, we have Arcserve 7 for Netware. Now we would like to consolidate all alerts on NT, because Arcserve 7 for Netware cannot hadle alerts. When we configure everying on Netware side and start the arcserve, we are getting "failed to send alerts to [Alert WS]" on activity log. Any clue or tip appriciated.

Regards,

I am having the same problem. Did you happen to find the fix. I am using ArcServe 7 SP2 on Netware and ArcServe 7 SP2 Manager workstation with the Alerter Service running.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tim,

We have resolved by using smtp server, perl script and ftp utility. So we are ftping to Netware to get the log file and combining Netware and NT log files. Then using perl script, we sending as a smtp mail.

Unfortunately, there is no easy solution using standard Arcserve utilities.

If you are interested in perl solution, please let me know.

put IP Adresse an Alert WS-Name in the hosts File on Volumes SYS of the Netware Arcserve Server

Jo,

We did try it zillion times but nothing happened. We could not even trace it whether it was sending or not.

Hi,

I experience the same problem. On a new Netware 6 box with Arcserve 7, I accidently activated alert services during install. Now I noticed that this is designed to work with Exchange, and here the're using (off course) GroupWise.

Does anyone know a solution or how to disable alert services, without having to reinstall?

cheers!

Dennis

To get ARCserve 7 to see the "Alerts WS" make sure you have (both the WS and the Server) their ips and names in the host files of each other. Ping my name to make sure its working. Then on the WS side, go into the client and you will find a section to enter keywords to report on.

Make sure you go into the WS's services and configure SNMP Service to send alerts (traps) to the IP you want to redirect it to. If you don't want to redirect it to another workstation (I send them to mine as well as leave them on the alerts WS).

Almost forgot, makesure you have SNMP configured to send traps to the Alerts WS also.

And yes it WILL not connect (find) your alerts workstation 100% of the time you astart it. Tis a CAI "enhancement".
