Hi,

Using BOE XI against Oracle 9i. I have a few reports loaded onto a test server. When trying to preview the reports in Infoview, I'm able to preview with no issues. However, when one of the guys in a different department tries to preview the same report (from the same PC), they get the error:

Failed to open the connection. Details [Database vendor Code: 12154]

This is the standard Oracle "TNS:could not resolve service name" error. Any ideas why I can preview without any problems, but other users are getting database connection errors?

I've tried temporarily adding the user in question to the Administrators group on the BOE XI server, but this doesn't help.

Thanks in advance.

Gavin

Do you have the database password setup under the Object, Database, process tab in the CMC?

Is your user using View on Demand or Schedule?

What have you got set on the Object, Database, process tab in the CMC under the

"When viewing report:"
Prompt the user for database logon
Use SSO context for database logon
Use same database logon as when report is run

Hi groggle,

Yes, database password is set up OK. - I can preview the report(s) no problem myself, its just users in other department(s) that are the problem.

The report is viewing on demand.

In the database settings the 'Use same database logon as when report is run' is selected.

- Thanks.

Gavin
