Error: Failed to open the connection. Report.rpt

The environment is CRXI R2 using the Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

I can run the report locally using the crystal IDE without any problems. However, when I try to run it via the Crystal Reports Server, I get the "Failed to open the connection. Report.rpt" error.

Other reports are running with no problem on this server.

Can someone please help me, thanks.

Thanks for your immediate response.

I added another copy of the report to the server and I get the same failed message. I can't even view the review through the viewer. Could this be a firewall issue?

Yes, RobbieB, I can see other reports and run them over the server as well.

If you can view the other reports it shouldn't be a firewall issue. Without being able to look at the report myself it is difficult to say what the problem is but I have somee other questions/suggestions. Does this report use the same data source as the other reports? If not, has the data source it is using been added to the server running Crystal Server as a system DSN?

This report does use the same data source as one of the other reports. Once I save the report to the server, I can run it locally, but if I go onto the server, I can not run the report or see it in the viewer.

Elansienna, the only time I had this problem was when the report was retreiving too many records. The best way to tell if this is your problem is to go into the Centrral Management Console an on th RAS server change the option of number of records to read to unlimited. I also bumped up the maximum jobs allowed and cace size on various other servers but I don't know if you have to do this or not. It worked for me though. I ha a prooblem where users would try to run a large report for a long period of time and it would error out on them because it exceeded the number of records allowed. I hope this works for you.

RobbieB, thank you for this insightful information. I will try it and see what happens. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good luck!
