Failed to login to ARCserveIT database 1

I'm running Arcserve 2000 on Windows 2000 adv servers and I have both the client and open file agents installed. I also have SP4 applied. I'm recieving the following at the end of the backup:

[CAT] Failed to login to ARCserveIT database. (EC=-2005)

The media pools disappear and it dosen't merge the sessions.

I bounce the server backup server, start arcserve 2000, the media pools show up but the merge dosen't start up.

You help in resolving this is greatly appreciated.

HI,

GO the system variables on your backup server.
look for a varaible called RNNAME. it should have a value
which will be the name of your server...

e.g RNNAME = <Backup-server name>

if this value is incorrect or if the variable is missing...
create it and assign the proper value...
reboot the server..
