Hi All,

I am trying to create dynamic prompts in Business view manager. How ever when i create a report i see the .lov in "existing" tab of the parameter window but when i add it and bind it and then refresh the report I get the below error.

Prompting Failed with the following Error Message: ’List of Values Failure: fail to get values. Cause of Error: Error in File UNKOWN.RPT: Failed to create the Crystal Database Connector
Error source: prompt.dll Error code 0x8004380D

Can someone please let me know whats going wrong here.

How do i fix this error?

I am on XI R2 version, crystal full build installed sp5 and 6.

Thanks

Have you scheduled the LOV? LOV's are stored as .rpt files by the Business View Manager (BVM) and have to be scheduled to run in order to contain data. This is what the "List of Values Server" does in BusinessObjects/Crystal Server.

1. In the Business View Manager, right-click on the LOV and select "Schedule List of Values".

2. If this is a cascading prompt, select the bottom level of the prompt and click on OK, otherwise, just click on OK.

3. To verify that everything is set up correctly, "Run Now".

4. Wait a couple of minutes and then go to the Edit the LOV. In the bottom right is a box labelled "Schedule Status" - verify that the scheduled instance ran correctly. If it didn't, there should be an error message here to help you determine what the issue is.

5. If it ran correctly, close the Edit window and reschedule the LOV to run on a regular basis. How frequently it's run will depend on how frequently your data changes - schedule accordingly. Most of mine run either once a day or once a week because we have no need of "up to the minute" data.

Hi Hilfy, Thanks for the step by step instructions.

I did try to schedule the list of values but getting an error

Status of List of Values Instance: Failed
Server Used: xxxxxxxx.ListOfValuesJobServer
Error Message: Failed to open the connection.

Kindly suggest what to do..

Check the data connection for the LOV - this is the object that has the same name as the LOV but ends in "_DC". Make sure the password is set. If you're not using integrated security and you don't want your users to have to log in to see the LOV, be sure to set it to never prompt for login.

It is set to Never Prompt,

Also checked the database connectivity of DC via tools. Test is successful, Not sure why it is not working in report.

Any other suggestions??
