backups are simple and can be done from linux bash command line or from the web browser.
PC Compact Flash card, hard disk of server, scp, ftp, sftp to a server or pc on the network
or PC connected to the services port of your server.

Hardware platform? CM software version?
What sets of backups?

You need to specify on the web interface the information of your sftp/ftp server/username/password and ensure there is connectivity between (network). It's the best method.. you prob don't want backups backing up to the local box, in case of a failure. It's pretty simple. Also ensure ftp is enabled on the call servers, which it is by default.

Hmmm

not sure i would be advising this especially in modern day enterprises , much better to use sftp in fact i cant think of one site i work on that does not block and look rather bleakly on ftp traffic.

It appears that you have issues with 192.168.104.44 - either with contacting the backup machine or authentication.

Can you ping that 192.168.104.44 address from the command line on your call server? Most likely there is either no SFTP service running, or you have something on the network preventing that host from being able to talk to the backup server.
