The fix:

-go to iManager ( ip>/imanager.html)

-go to NBM VPN Server Configuration

-click the server

-in the 'server certificate' section, choose a different certificate (use the search icon to find a different one)

the fix cont'd:

actually instead of choosing a different existing certificate, i created a new certificate.

go to imanager and click 'novell certificate server' then 'create server certificate'.

type the name of your bm server and context and give the new certificate a nickname.

choose custom and click next

choose organizational certificate and click next

for 'key type' select 'encryption' and click next

keep the defaults for the 'certificate parameters' page and click next

choose 'your organization's certificate' and click next

review and click finish

then go to nbm vpn configuration (still in imanager) and select nbm vpn server configuration

click your server name

in the 'server certificate' section use the magnifying glass to search for the new certificate you just created

click ok

go to the console of your bm server and type stopvpn

type startvpn

type vpncfg

select master server configuration

select generate encryption information

type a sequence of numbers and/or letters to generate a key and press enter

you will have to press enter a few more times as it does its thing

go to your client and attempt to log in to the vpn!!
