Hi All
Although my experience of raid 5 tells me that this is not possible, I have to ask....
Is it possible to recover the data from 1 drive out of the original 3 that made up the raid 5 array?

Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

no, if you lose 2 drives out of the 3 you are done. You may be able to send your drives to a data recover facility, just label the drives 1 - 3 and they may be able to get some of the data back.

comtec17 is correct. With RAID-5 systems it's possible to rebuild the entire array using any 2 of 3 drives. With only 1 there's no chance of getting any useful data, regardless of stripe-size.

There's a bunch of data recovery companies out there who can handle the job. Make sure however you get a solid quote up-front and don't send it anywhere that charges up-front fees. A good data recovery company will only need to get 1 of the other 2 working so they should be able to get it as long as you don't bugger up the good disk. :)
