This morning my mirror of rootvg failed. This is what happened so far.
-System shutdown (done because the drive bearing failed and I wanted to make sure that my AIX server was causing the problem.)
-When system restarted, hdisk1 showed as defined and missing. A new drive, hdisk6 had been created.
-Hard drive was replaced.
-Hdisk6 removed from AIX.
-Hdisk1 removed from AIX.
-System restart, Hdisk1 detected. (This was now the new HD)
-Used extendvg rootvg hdisk1 command.
-Tried to run mirrorvg rootvg hdisk1.
-Mirror seemed to succeed and fail, got several errors regarding failed synch.
-Issued lsvg -a rootvg. This showed hdisk0, hdisk1 and another disk that does not match configuration.
My theory is that this third disk is a "ghost" of the failed drive, however, I do not know how to remove this "ghost" from PDM. I was thinking of removing hdisk1 from AIX, then UNmirroring, then readding hdisk one to rootvg and attempting mirror again.
Does anyone have some insights?
