Hi all,

I have had the only disc (yes I know, not my server though) in a Windows NT Server fail. I know it is physically failed as you had hear the disc spinning 3 miles away it is so loud.

What I need to do is image the disc (if possible) to a healthy disc. I can't get into the OS as it won't boot.

Here is what I have tried:

Used Disk Clone which failed with the BSOD
Used Disk RAW Copy which failed
Used Drive Image which failed due to improper dismount
Used chkdsk /f but this halts when repairing a log file

I am now using Drive Image again but I think it will fail anyway, any other ideas as to what I can try?

Thanks in advance.

If your disk is in such a seriously poor state you will have a hard time making of image of it. I would say get a new drive re-install and restore your data from the last good backup.

Hi,

The recovery and image was both frustrating and did not provide a solution.

In the end I did manage to recover the SQL DB I needed and now I have installed SQL on another server for the time being untill a new disc is purchased.

Thanks.
