Hi,

I'm attempting to backup a unix client from an NT server networker admin. The cleint is behind a firewall and all the default ports for the networker service and server are open. I didn't allow the sunprc port to be opened since i'm using version 6.1 of the client and server.

These get backed up ok:
/
/opt/
/var

These fail and timeout after 30 minutes.
/usr
/home

Ont he client:
"/nsr/logs/daemon.log" gives me this messages:
nsrexecd: failed to write NUL handshake on 6: errno 32, Broken pipe

The networker server is on another 10mbps network and the client is behind a firewall on a 100mbps network.

Can anyone figure out why i'm getting this problem ?

Thanks

have you configured the ports on the backup server that you want to use to backup thru the firewall? check the admin guide on how to set this up.

Yes, I configured all the ports.

The thing is, I can only now backup when I do it in verbose mode.

Example: savegrp -v <group>

If I run a normal savegrp without verbose it will fail or fail to notify me that it has finished.

I tried to backup through two firewall last year and it failed like your case.
Finding:
Legato Networker expects you open all the necessary ports which defined in the admin guide. And also they expect your firewall do not have any timeout setting.
Workaround:
If your firewall has any connection timeout setting, then increase it, then your backup will be okay.
