Hello!
When I start the configuration wizard it gives me the error "Failed to start the database service MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE. Repair this product by selecting it from the Add/remove programs menu" I do not have MSSQL$Micosoft##sse installed. It's not listed in "services" I am running WS2003 standard with SP1 .net framework 2.0 and .net framework 3.0 trying to install Share Point services 3.0. I have tried installing "SQL server 2005 Express Edition" but that did not work. I believe share point installs MSSQL$Micosoft##sse am I right?

Thank you for any Reply’s!

Chris

If you have Visual Studio installed on the server this will show up.

Tahnks for the reply
I don't have visual studio installed.

I tried to install visual studio but got the error again could not install.

Try this thread820-1315086 - had the same issue. Only applicable when using Standalone Installation using MSDE. (Basically remove NTFS compression on the installation folder when SQL is trying to install to)

Thanks,

Steve.

Thanks for all the reply's its NOW WORKS!!!!

Basically I went to this folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions" and made a new folder within it. I then changed the install directory to the new folder. I did not have compression on so that was one less issue. Many thanks for your replay Stevehewitt. I did try to install this in a different location on the server with the same error "I do not have MSSQL$Micosoft##sse installed" but as soon as I changed to directory to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\new folder" it install and works fine. Strange that it did not install in the default location. (I did stop all IIS service manually, removed old install files + reg)
