Fading Titles

How can I make my titles fade in or fade out, especially if I'm having it transparently over a clip?

Is there any way to do that WITHOUT After Effects?

it's pretty easy,
just click the expanding arrow on the video track (if you have version 6). there should be a red line that appears. keyframe that line to make it look like a pyramid with the top chopped off, then you should be in business.
