Can someone explain to me how you do this please.
Thanks in advance

Same answer basicly!

Start with the Help files!

Roughly...

Write a text string.
Break apart.
Convert to symbol.
Set duration on the time line in frames.
Set 3 other key frames symbolized by the "0"s:

Fade in Hold Fade out
0------->0------------0-------->0
Add motion tween, between key frame 1 & 2, and 3 & 4
On the first key frame, change the alpha setting to 0% for a fade in.
On the last key frame, change the alpha setting to 0% for a fade out.

Good luck!
