I have Outlook 4.0 and am very happy with it but I recently installed a scanner and after that I noticed that the formatting toolbar on my email compose screen was very faded it still works but I can't see the labels of it. I upgraded to 6.0 but then I couldn't seem to view my photos the way I prefer, so uninstalled 6.0 and resumed 4.0 with the faded toolbar.

2 possibles for you. Check the display settings in your scanner program.
Update the graphics card drivers. (My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/Display adapters.
Right click your display Adapter/Properties/Driver/Update Driver
