What is the procedure to factory reset this switch?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

For the 2524 it is as follows, don't know if 2424 is similar:

1. Using pointed objects, simultaneously press both the RESET and CLEAR buttons on the front of switch.

2. Continue to press the CLEAR button while releasing the RESET button.

3. When the SELF TEST LED begins to flash, release the CLEAR button.

Thanks for the info!
One last question.
What is the pinout of the serial connector needed to connect to the console?

The book says configure terminal emulator as follows:

DEC-VT100
any baud rate 1200 - 115200
8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity
flow control = NONE

As far as cable goes, all I can find is reference to "cable supplied with switch".
It must be a standard cable, I would just try a strait thru, and if that doesn't work try a null modem.

Ok,

I was able to get in. I setup for IP management.
Now what is the username?

I tried;

admin
administrator
manager
operator

none of these work. I got the password but don't know the username.

If you have already been through the SWITCH SETUP screen, in my book it looks like the Logon is specified there, with a default of "CLI" and a blank password.

I don't remember how my setup went but on my Procurve I leave user <blank> and just have a password.

Of course My book is for 2524 model, yours might be a little different. Have you tried looking on HP's web site for a manual?
